Hello I live in a townhome and the leasing company provides the internet. There was an issue of not having enough bandwidth for all the leasers and it was recently fixed and the internet speed is great now. They also added a packeteer which im not to sure how it works. But now the issue is with my xbox 360 and live. They NAT settings say strict/moderate and i understand that this can cause lag and frequent problems with connectivity. Is there any possible way to avoid the frequent problems i've been encountering?

Thanks
Jay

you can test the xbox's network settings simply by using the test when you on the console. It says the the NAT settings are strict half of the time and moderate the other half. Im not using a router or anything just using both of the ethernet jacks in my room 1 for the computer 1 for my 360.

Im experiencing really really bad connectivity problems. Either not being able to join a game, or joining and leaving because of the lag.

You still have a bandwidth problem at your site. Wan optimization is where you try to cache web pages at the local hardware so users don't have to go to the internet to refresh. This is how you make the bandwidth available by not using it per say. Doesn't work well with games because each screen is different.

Are you serious? Do you realize it will snare you in a way you never envised - eviction from the apt & a ride in the backseat of a police car on its way to Central Booking on charges of tampering with private property?

How this is BS they said they would provide me high speed internet and I can't even get on xbox live and play some games? I'd like to see me goto jail for that...

I guess im just going to go bitch at the office and try to get my rent reduced and use that to pay for my own internet.

This really sounds like an issue with the Xbox.

What's probably happening is the XBox is attempting to DHCP very frequently (like every time you turn it on) a new IP address.

Have the ppl looking after your internet to add your XBox's MAC to the router so that the address is 'reserved' for your Xbox (MAC address). I would guess this may solve your problem (assuming I understood it correctly).
