Basically, I have two computers upstairs I need hardwired together @ 100 Mbs (like through a hub or switch) so I can transfer files very fast between the two computers, but I also need both of those computers to be wirelessly connected to a computer connected to the cable modem downstairs which is run through a Netgear MR814 wireless router. I need something like a multi-port wireless access point, but I couldn't find anything of the sort, and I was told I was better off just getting another wireless router for upstairs and trying to bridge the networks, but I'm not looking forward to RIP and such. Will a Linksys BEFW11S4 (http://www.linksys.com/Products/product.asp?grid=23&prid=173) take care of my needs for upstairs, or will it want to work as another router and not as a multi-port access point? Hopefully someone can lead me to the most economical solution to my problem and help me out on what I need to make this feasible. Thanks.

Why can't you use a wireless card in each 'upsatirs' CP and connect throught the router? This is a 4 Port device, meaning up to 4 PCs can be 'connected' and use the DSL connection simultaneously.

I can't use a wireless card in each of the upstairs computers because I need to be able to transfer between the two at speeds faster than 11Mbps; having two wireless cards would limit me to wireless speeds. I need a hardwired option that would allow 100Mbs transfers between the two upstairs computers.

You may want yto check with linksys to make sure the 4 port wireless router will connect to the Netgear router this way.
I know 2 linksys routers will work this way.
Set up the access point where the cable modem is. Set up a 4 port linksys wireless access point up stairs as client to the AP down stairs. connect your PCs upstairs to the ports on the AP.

So I can use two Linksys BEFW11S4 together and have them act on the same wireless network, with one as an AP and one as a router? (I'm just confirming; I really want to get this up soon.)

I don't think you can use 2 BEFW11S4.
You can use 1 togethere with an access point
or 2 access points or bridge.
