Multiple AP WLAN - how to set up?

I set up a home WLAN using a D-Link 713P AP, and it works great, very stable, but some areas of the house lack good wireless coverage. I would like to add a second AP (a Dell 1170) by connecting it via the ethernet router output on the 713P and HomePlug bridges (2 Netgear XE102s). How exactly is this done? The Dell 1170 has an ethernet input for LAN and DSL/Cable. How is DHCP set on the second AP? What about the SSID (should it be the same as on the first AP)? And what about the channels on each AP (one is set to 6, the other to 10)? Should the WEP be the same? On the second AP, do I need to specify the username and password for my DSL ISP, or is that handled by the router on the 713P (which is connected directly to the DSL modem)? I have not found any good guidance on configuring multiple APs on a home WLAN and am suffering from not fully understanding all of the concepts perfectly. Many thanks for any advice!
