I'm disappointed with you guys. I've never had a problem someone didn't have the answer
for. So far this one has everyone stumped.
My modem dials up at random. It seems to be
about every 3-5 minutes. It makes the connection and drops it immediately. This
wouldn't be no big thing except I use the
same line for my telephone service. I changed by server but they assured me it
didn't create the problem. So far I've done
the following.
1.Install and run Spy ware
2.Install and run Spam ware
3.Install and run AD ware
4.Check all programs I can think of
shut off automatic update.
5.Check and rechecked all modem and
dial up connection settings for anything
that might cause it.
6.Installed and run Firewall
Is it possible to see a dial up log that
might tell me what file or program is
doing the dialing. If so where and the name
of the log.
Thanks,

In your modem properties/diagnostcs tab as found in Device manager you should have a check box to check for keeping a log. You can also view it.

When the modem is dialing to a control alt delete and bring up task manager. Check active apps and then processes to see if you can find the culprit.

Try turning off the modem. Do you get a app popup saying there is a problem?

if your running win xp look in control panel for a java icon. The Internet is changing and to think that websights don't need to make money and that they will try anything to sit on there lazy butts to screw the next guy.......
anyway, winxp never had Java so you might have went to sunmicro systems to get this great java add-on that we all thought that we needed. It has a cashe file that can be deleted.
ok so If I want to delete file's from the web I do this..........

right click start/explore/tools/folder options/view /show all hidden files.

then from there look for local settings, open temp and temp internet folders and delete all, from there close all right click on Internet explorer / properties ( on the start menu ) and delete cookies / delete files ( and tick the offline content box ) close all , go to control panel look for the Java icon, open/ cashe tab / on the right side top you'll see view and clear, hit the clear button.

Java I have found does not install the same on every pc. I hope this helps.
