Mobile broadband 3GB usage limit fill up fast

Specs: Dell Inspiron 1545, Unknown
Am using a new Dell Inspiron 1545 computer with a Virgin Mobile Broadband USB.

Problem is I only have a download limit of 3Gb per month and I have already used 600Mb in 3 hours looking at emails and only sending 2!

Viking thinks problem is Microsoft sending updates to my computer (with it being new). There is something working in the background assume Microsoft. At this rate will soon reach my 3Gb limit. Any advice?

Disable Windows auto updates and perform them manually as needed. If you feel you need to download the MS updates you can go to the update site and look at what they think is needed for your system. Then write down each update number and download them from a computer somewhere else that doesn't have such a low cap. Then put the files on removable media to transport to your computer.

Get a different ISP.

Yep, disable auto-updates. With or without a cap, they cause more problems than they solve anyway. As for security updates, half of those are for IE, so simply switching to Firefox or Opera takes care of that.
