Can I attach both a wired and wireless network to my TWC cable modem?
I currently have a 4 port wired router attached to my TWC Cable Modem.
My son bought a wireless ready laptop and would like to install a wireless router. Can I mix the 2 networks or do I need to go wireless with the other systems?
If I have to go wireless, what's a decent wireless card for a Asrock K7S41GX motherboard?
You can mix wireless and wired; that is exactly what a wireless router is designed to do. If the router has a four port switch built in, and most do, replace the existing router with the wireless router and keep the other computers wired.
I have been using a Belkin Wireless G Router for the last twelve months without any problems. It often comes with a USB Wireless Adaptor that works well.
There are some here that will decry Belkin routers but I have never had a moments problem with mine which is more than I can say for Dlink.
The Linksys WRT54G is a good unit. It fits the description by StuartS above - wireless router, but with four wired ports. You can check it out at this link:
NetGear routers are great in that my laptop wifi radar always detect and try to piggyback on the excellent signals from different neighbors all around me upstairs, downstairs and across the hall :-)
