Ever since I moved home from the dorm, I've been experiencing frequent disconnects from the servers I frequent. It only informs me of the connection loss in console, so I dont usually realize I'm disconnected until the chat becomes very quiet all of a sudden :)

The error listed is thus:
* [1030] connection lost due to software error

or something like that, I dont have it in front of me.

This happens *very* frequently. Sometimes the stretches of time inbetween these episodes can vary, but they are essentially inevitable.

I have been unable to resolve this, and I'm at my wits end. If anyone can suggest something, ANYTHING, I'll gladly listen.

Here's a list of my schematics:
CPU: AthlonXP 2100+
Memory: 512MB PC-2700 DDR
HD: 80GB Western Digital 7200rpm
Connection: Cable Modem (standard ethernet network card connection via a Linksys hub connected to the router/modem downstairs)

I usually chat on 3 different servers at a time due to one being for work and the other two for pleasure.

Thank you in advance, if you need more info I will supply it.

hmm, Try a decent client for one, I recommend xchat (www.xchat.org) and altho its not too reliable itself, Klient (www.klient.com)

mIRC has many little niggling errors, but I cant fault xchat for windows.
