Hi

I have just bought a wireless router for my laptop and am trying to get the darn thing to work. It worked flawlessly for about ten minutes and then i went out. Half an hour later when i get back the internet still works, skype signs in and program update tools all work. The only thing that refuses to connect is msn messenger 8.

It fails on key ports but i put my laptop in the dmz, turned off the router firewall and disabled zonealarm, i ask you, what other firewall is left as the windows one is not turned on.

Note that msn messenger works flawlessly on the ethernet backbone of the router even with all the firewalls and i currently have no security on the network.

Please help as this is driving me up the wall.

Messenger 8? There is no Messenger 8. The current version is 7.5.

Windows Live messenger then... it's still in beta. Windows messenger doesn't sign in either if that helps you. Thanks for the reply.

Windows Live Messenger is different. It's a beta. Beta products comes with no support whatsoever and its use is at your own risks. Why bother using it when you cannot get any qualitative help?

I enjoy testing beta software, besides its almost a feature complete version now and some of the new features are useful.

I did say windows messenger was not working either. A lot of people are having the same problems with other versions of messenger too.

Thanks for the reply.

Well then if you dont know what the answer is or at least have the slightest clue dont bother answering the question; i didnt post to have a discussion about beta software.
