How can I check or where can I see in Win98 which computer on my network is master browser.

I don't believe in Win98 you have that option. Under NT4 with the resource kit installed, there is a utility to do it.

Sometimes you can figure it out by way of Rank. Here is the way it goes:

PDC
BDC
NT Server
NT Workstation
9x/ME box

There is typically one master and 1 or more backup. The master assigns the backups automatically.

In a network where all you have is 9x boxes, the one that has been on the longest would be the master.

Same with all NTworkstation. If you have several NTservers (but no PDCs or BDCs) then the one up the longest would be the browse master.

Its done by election process.

If you are running WINS on your network, check the logs....It will tell you when and what machine recieved the last election.

My system is electing a win98 box over the pdc and bdc. even though the nts at designated as master and back-up. Any ideas why?
