I am trying to get more than 5 machines to connect to one XP Pro machine. There is one file they all need access to. As soon as the sixth machine logs on the peer to peer network another machine loses its mapped network drive connection. I tried the Net Share command and it says unlimited users. Does anyone know how I can allow more than 5 machines to map a network drive to this file on a XP Pro machine?

I'm sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I can map a network drive but I cannot get more than 5 computers to access this one drive. If a sixth computer logs on to the drive then one of the other work stations gets disconnected. It seems it will only allow 5 sessions to map to this one drive. There must be a permission setting that only allows 5 users at a time. I tried using the Admin tool under Computer Managment but I didn't see any section to set the user limit. SO I used the Net Share command and it was already set to unlimited. Any thoughts.

Hi Mike,

On the XP Pro machine, right click on the folder where your files are to be shared, and trace to "Properties".

Click on the "Sharing" tab at the top.
You will see a section to adjust your user limit.

Adjust the Limit section appropriately to your situation.

Best wishes,
JimK.
