Peer to peer, W2K to Win98 home network. Basic NW is OK (can access shared drive/files; do Drag & Drop, delete, etc. Problem: When using 'DOS' copies from Command Prompt or from Batch File, the mapped drives won't work. Using the W2K machine I can copy to or from the Win98 machine; but using ONE mapped drive and "C" for the W2K PC (it's mapped drive (J) won't work). From the Win98 machine I cannot copy with DOS at all. I get "invalid drive specification' on all attempts. The drives are mapped correctly, User names are the same on both machines. Using "net use" on either machine shows JUST one mapped drive plus the UNC name. EG: Net use:K: \\Dell300\C. Should it show ALL mapped drives?
I set up to be the 'only' user, no password; in a HOME network. I don't understand 'permissions'; but could that be a problem? If so: How can the network 'work' in everything except DOS copies?
