Mapped drive on file server not showing data

December 3, 2010 at 06:55:43
Specs: Windows XP
I've got a file server and a user with a mapped drive to one of the folders on a shared drive. This use can access the drive, but when he opens a subfolder there is no data there. The user can open other folders within the shared drive. The user can access the data in the problem folder by typing the network address, i.e., \\fileserver\sharedfolder\subfolder and can move freely from that path. He just can't get to subfolder by accessing it through the mapped drive - P:\.

P:\ - fine \\fileserver\sharedfolder - fine
P:\subfolder - no data \\fileserver\sharedfolder\subfolder - fine
P:\subfolder2 - fine \\fileserver\sharedfolder\subfolder2 - fine

I've disconnected and remapped the drive to no avail.

Any ideas? OS is XP, file server is 2008. All other users have no problem.

What are the ntfs permissions of the files he can't see?

if you go to the security tab on the folder with no data, select this user and go to advanced and effective rights, what rights are listed?
