Okay I'v been wanting to set it up where my laptop stays on the same IP Address for my network. 192.168.1.101 so I don't have to keep changing my firewall ports IP everytime my router seems to get messed up and I have to reset it. Whenever I setup a Manual IP and DNS for my wireless Network Connection it renders my computer invisible to everyone else on the network. When I access my router and goto the list of computers connected to it, everything is listed except the laptop in question. My Other computers cannot detect it and my XB360 can't detect it either. Making printer sharing, file sharing, and media streaming to my TV impossible. But when I set my laptop back to Auto-detect IP and DNS it's back on the network again, and everythign detects it.
So I know I'm probably looking over some small detail here that could fix this for me. So if anyone can help, please do.
Thanks in advanced.

almost sounds like you are putting in the wrong static ip. When auto connected what is your gateway address? What is the scope of addresses allowed in the router? You may be choosing a address outside that scope. For example if your acceptable range of ip is x.x.x.10 to 50 and you put in x.x.x.100 it won't work.
Could be your windows firewall messing things up. Set as static and turn off the/any software firewall. See if that makes a difference. If is does its just a matter of proper config of the firewall.
Otherwise go into your router and do a ip reservation. this is where you associate your nics mac address [physical address as listed by doing a ipconfig /all at a cmd prompt] with the ip address you want it always getting from the router.
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Hi Jeffreh,
Iam thinking the reason you will not see the laptop is because when you use static addressing, the Netbios Over TCPIP feature is disabled. If you want to see it with the other pcs, enable this feature in the Advanced option of the TCPIP properties dialog box.You will find this under the WINS tab.I hope this will help you.
Regards,

Wanderer,I agree with your suggestion,i was too quick to think that the problem is only the fact that the laptop is invisible,I did not follow his last few lines where he says the other pcs can not communicate the laptop.I guess the problem lies in the default gateway.

Alrighty. I thank you fellows for the help, my issue was resolved, appearantly all I had to do was change the NetBios over TCP/IP thing and now it works!
Gracias!
