I got a dsl connection and tried to switch today for a cable connection(faster speed). When the technican came out to set up my computer using a CD for prequalification he always got an error message in windows xp. Main app error. He did not know what exactly it is but told me it's an ip address problem. He left and told me to fix that or otherwise he can not hook me up. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks

Did you renew your IP address?
The system may still have the IP address of the DSL service.

If I understand correctly, a cable company came out and test your computer, to see if you could even qualify for the service. If this is indeed the situation, stick with your dsl connection, or go with another cable company, because if this is the service they provide before you are even connected, fsck their sorry a$$. Just imagine how crappy things will be once you have the service. My suggestion, stay away. Bandwidth is great, but it isn't sh*t if you don't even have a connection.
