I have built a SBS 2000 server with an exchange and I brought it out to an exsisting network. The problem is that they already have a server with the same name!!! When I go to connect the new exchange to the exsisiting network I get the following warning "a duplicate name exsists on teh network" Is it possible to change the name of the exchange server? I set it up to be an additional domain controller. Please help me resolve this problem. thanks

Man. That sucks. Lol. First off, I've had to rename a domain controller before because of various issues and it isn't fun. Second, SBS can't be a secondary DC for a domain. It is the top level DC in it's own forest. It can have member servers but can not be an additional DC (I believe). If you need to rename it, you need to remove exchange. Then demote the server using DCPROMO and re-promote to a DC. This will let you rename the server and or domain. Then reinstall Exchange. You may need to look at the "how to manually remove exchange 2000" tech doc by MS if it doesn't reinstall correctly. All these steps are on their site somewhere on "how to rename a DC." Let me know if you have any other questions.
