My friend bought a Mac laptop for college. Are those compatible on Windows networks if there using TCP/IP as there protocol? Is there something MAC's can download to make them if not? I couldn't decide if this was appropriate in mac or network forum. Thanks

Macs should be compatable on the network. At home, I have both Mac and Windows machines hooked up to a router. Although file sharing is a little more difficult, they can both access the internet through the router.

TCP/IP or any network protocol are more generic for all flatform (Windows, MAC, Unix, Linux, Lindows ...). You are sure able to connect from Windows to Mac using TCP/IP but the problem you may get is the file format between those 2 system may cause you problem. You have to chose a file format converter to convert the file from one to other.
