Specs: Macintosh 10.8.2, 4 GB
Does the Apple MacBook Air MD224LL/A have an integrated wireless network (Airport or otherwise) that will enable it to connect to the internet, even though the specs do not mention Airport?

Yes, and I'm fairly certain every new Mac, both laptops and desktops, have the Airport wifi card these days. In fact I've noticed the new Air doesn't come with a wired LAN connector, you have to buy an adapter to plug into the Thunderbolt socket.
