I have a printserver and would like to assign a static IP for it. I do not want to have to set static IP's for all the computers. Is this possible? if so, how do I do it?

Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

yes thats possible. Your router has a dhcp ip-range. take a look into your router menu. For example: 192.168.1.20 - 192.168.1.60.

take a ip beyond this range for your printserver. for example: 192.168.1.61.

thats all.

Your router should have a ip reservation table. This is where you associate the mac address with the ip address. Only that mac address will get that ip address. So its static but assigned by dhcp.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
