I have a cable modem and a desktop computer on the other side of the house and both have to stay where they are. There is a big wide hallway leading to the room with the computer. If I could move the computer a few feet to the left I would avoid a lot of walls. But I can't. is there any kind of device that I could use to change the direction of the signal?

Im using a DIR-655 and DWA-552 wireless N router/adapter from d-link

I don`t know how much room you have to work with, but it`s free, I know it looks a little goofy, but it did work for me in my circumstance, ie low signal strength, and needing a little directional to the signal. A video, and a link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUTT8wdN_VA&NR=1 and http://www.freeantennas.com/project...
