I have a perdicament where i need internet out at my shop and at my house but i don;t want to have to pay for two seperate services... i was wondering if the was a low cost (<300$) wifi bridge that could travel over 1.5km without loosing any signal? Also i was looking at creating a cAntenna (google it) and was hoping to mount it onto 2 satellite dishes and bridge the connection? Would this work or am i dreaming again. I found a wifi bridge that was 4000$ but it went 6 miles, which was a little overkill. TY very much for posting in advance :)

That bridge you found was probably a satellite using a microwave transmitter. It uses line-of-site to connect to sites. It's expensive, to say the least, and somewhat unreliable.

In short, no, it can't be done. Due to legislative restrictions and the nature of the technology, it can't be done, not with your budget. Not even close.

The first requirement for long distance is line of sight. Are your locations visible from each other? If so, you have a chance with good antennas.

well, there might be a few treetops but from my roof to the other roof you can see :)
