lost connection

Subject: lost connection
OS: winxp
CPU/Ram: Intel 512MB
Model/Manufacturer: linksys
Comment:
I have a linksys router and it seems to lose the connection at least once a day. I power down and power back up the router and it is fine. I live in a house, so I would think there is little interference. The router is password protected.

The issue has upset my wife to the point of frenzy. She assigned me to figure it out.

The router is a standard 2 year old b/g router from linksys, nothing sexy. Any help would be appreciated.

When it "loses" its connection, what connection? Wan, lan?
Question is is it your pc, the switch in the router, the wan port or the ISP?

To test next time you can't get on the internet see if you can access the web interface of the router via its gateway address.

If you can then look at the wan settings. Do they show an ip address from your provider?

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
