CPU/Ram: 900mhz P3/512mb Ram

For 6 months Prior I had network connection to Westell modem/Router thru 802.1 G Belkin wireless card and thru hardwired docking station.Now I have neither.(have double checked hard connection with desktop and G card with other laptop.Lost connection at work too.all other computers still connected.Device manager says eveything is working.Netstumbler detects network as does belkin utility ;but,I am not recieving an IP address on the wireless or wired connection.........The only thing I can remember changing(I dont always use the laptop for internet as also am running 2 desktops here)I have installed Mastercam and done a Defrag recently ;but,cant imagine what either could have done to my connection.
All Ideas welcome as I have come up short.........:o) thanks
