lossing internet connection via wireless

November 30, 2011 at 09:20:01
Specs: Windows XP
I set up a wireless connection and sometimes after a couple days or even a month for some reason we lose internet connection only on the devices that are connected wireless. The wireless signal (SSID) is there (doesn't disappear) but I have to reset the wireless settings or disable re-enable the SSID in order for me to connect back to the internet. I tried different channels and the power level is high and works for some time even a month or 2 but then for some reason keep losing the internet on the wireless devices only. I'm using a modem router from qwest Actiontec Q1000 (VDSL2)

I've found some routers and wireless cards to be incompatible with each other.

I suggest trying a different wireless router.

1. Purchase a Wireless G router and connect it to the Actiontec.
2. Connect the new router through its WAN port into one of the LAN ports of the Actiontec.
3. Setup the wireless router settings to your liking.

Let me know if this works.
