Hi;
I have a Linksys 4 port wired router. It's probably 5 to 7 years old, at least. Over the past 2 months I have sporadically lost internet connection for no apparent reason. It's not my modem or service, since I can disconnect the router and just run from the modem with no problem.
When I reconnect the router,.....I can't get any connection now. I'm not networking,....I simply use the router for extra firewall protection.
Any suggestions? Do routers wear out at all?
Cheers!

You might need to log on to the router management page and take a look, check the log and see any errors..Also check the configuration. Good luck..

check in teh routers web interface page where you login to it - i.e. http://192.168.1.1 goes to my router here..

check to see whether the router shows the connection status items such as the SNR Margin, a low SNR margin is a common cause of ADSL disconecting and not re-syncing properly or simply not workign at all.

IF this is below 6 db you can experience problems, I have this problem and get frequent drop outs because of my SNR margin of between 2.5 and 5 db when I sync above 5MBit.
