ok i have this one more question do long range antena really extend the signal of wireless router?
i have dlink wireless router i can use wireless connection to my laptop when im in the room but when i go to sitting room or hall my laptop dont seems to catch the signal so if i buy long range antena and replace with me stock antena which i believe is small range stock antena can i get the signal in my sitting room or hall

The only answer to that is probably. There are too many variables in radio communications to give a definitive answer.
What you are talking about is a hi-gain antenna. Do a search on google for hi-gain wifi antenna.
Stuart

you can build your own cantenna. There is even a you tube video on the subject.
and there are others that show a very simple assembly like with a fine wire metal strainer.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

2 things...
About 4 years ago I worked for a small ISP...we had a Linksys WAP feeding a highgain antenna outside the building pointed down the street...
At a clients office about 2 blocks away was another high gain antenna hooked to a Linksys router...We used 2 Linskys boxes, 2 high gain antennas and got a good signal about 2 blocks away...clear sight...no walls etc...
Inside a building I figgure 3 walls, 1 floor and 50'...within this you should get 4 bars on average...if it goes much beyond that the signal starts falling pretty quick...depending...depending...depending...
This is the way I judge an installation prior to actually installing it...I am suprised many times...both ways...
I use the Linksys Range Expanders...the kind that plug into an AC wall outlet...for each one I place at the edge of the router signal, I figgure another 2 walls and 50'...
Again, depening...but this "formula" on the average, workd pretty well...
