hi there, i've been researching this problem for 2 days now and have been googling it every way possible and searching on this board too. i can't seem to find the solution, though i've tried a lot of things from posts here.

i have 2 pc's running WinXP with sp2. they are both connected to a linksys router. my internet dls modem is also connected to the router. both computer can access the internet. PC1 can access shared resources on PC2.

the problem: PC2 can not access shared resources on PC1. in fact, the "my network places" folder is empty. when i click on "view workgroup computers", i can see an icon for "pc1" as well as for "pc2" but when i double click on pc1 i get the following error message:

"logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer"

i've called every techincal support number but they've all told me that for some reason it doesn't "fall within their jursidiction".

if there's anybody who can help me solve this problem, please please please help me out i'm in a real s--- bind and i need to get these computers working by tonight.

You have to add the user to pc1. You have to give the user of PC2 permission to the shared folders as well or atleast give EVERYONE the right to access the share.
