Comment:

I have to log off my pc and have windows restart inorder to get the network connection to work. Is there a way that when I bootup the first time the connection is set to the correct 'profile'?

Currently, the first bootup will not engage the network logon settings to enable me to connect to a networked computer/printer. Thanks for your help

Eric, if you have a switch that you are connecting to, make sure that the switch port has portfast enabled.
