Local only connection

Specs: Windows Vista, intel core2 duo/2gig
Hi, for the last year or so i have been experiencing connection problems. All devices are affected by this, desktop PC, Laptop, Phone and Playstation 3. The problem im having is my connection goes to "local only" and can last anything from 3 mins to 3 hours, i cant connect to the internet during this time but my PC remains connected to my D-Link router.I've tried connecting with an ethernet cable during this time and still no connection. I have been in touch with AOL tech advisors and have gone through reseting my router on numerous occasion without luck, ive even left my phone unplugged for over a day to see if it could be conflicting but i was still losing my connection. Having got through to level 2 tech at AOL they have done numerous line tests which they claim are coming back ok and that it must be a local problem!! does anyone know what the problem could be because AOL are no help, thanks

Probably it's due to incorrect configuration on computer or router..

Been through my setting on my router about 5 times with tech advisors and everything seems set up fine. Spoke to another level 2 today and they are sending me a new router so fingers crossed. Either way ill be leaving AOL when my contract is up in december would not recommend them to anyone! thanks
