I am finishing an AOS Degree. I have 2 routes to choose. 1 campus offers security, linux, and Cisco the other offers security, exchange, and cisco. which is the best route for a CAREER.

Everything you are facing i have done and successfully. Personally i would use a wired network, purely down to reliablity and the speed.
A router is used for shareing a single internet connection with a number of computers, where as a switch is just for connecting more than one computer together. Fixing the connectors on to the end of the Cat 5 cable is also fairly easy. I could email u a detailed diagram that would show you where everything is wired....

I hope this is of some help, if you have anymore questions then do not hesitate to email me and i would gladly help

Ben
