i need help really bad. ive never had trouble with my
router untill about 2 weeks ago when i moved into my
new spot. i have insight cable and a wrt54g router. the
problem is now me and my roomate just randomly get
dropped from the internet. it just stops. and i have to
reboot my computer to get connection back.now whats strange about this is that i used to always just
have one ip assigned to me thru the mac address from the
router..but everytime we get dropped we get a different ip
from the router. at first i thought it was my roomates
xbox conflicting with IP's of other computers on the
network, because the mac address of his box changes
everytime he turns it on. ive never seen somethin like
that, cuz i thought they were only supposed to have one
mac address..but since his xbox's mac address changes
everytime, the router gives it a new IP everytime.
we tried giveing his xbox a static IP but still got
disconnected everytime he tried to do anything with his
xbox.then i thought it was Azureus giving us conflicting ports
since we both were trying to use the same port thru the
router (6881-6889), so i went to bitcommet and used
vastly different ports (17702) and we still get randomly
disconnected.ive gone thru lots of tests and i really cant get my head
around this one. i tried to set static IP's for us all but that
equals no internet when i reboot the pc's . and i dont
really understand why his xbox takes over IP's everytime
he reboots it. i have an ip on my puter, but when he turns
his xbox on sometimes it takes the IP that my computer
had. isnt the router supposed to assign it a different ip
based on the mac address?its just odd that the internet will work for maybe a day or
so and then just crap out and we have to restart either the
pc's or the router. this is very annoying during aim
convo's or when we get booted from halo2 cuz it thinks
we are standbying. any help would be greatly
appreciated. cuz im lost on this one.

I think it's the Service Provider. Fluctuating internet.
