Subject: Linksys WRT54G no wireless internet OS: Win XP CPU/Ram: N/A

Comment: Just installed the LinkSys WRT54G to the cable modem (Comcast), one ethernet PC running XP and one notebook with built in wireless adapter. The connected PC has internet access, etc. and runs properly. The notebook however, sees the SSID reporting excellent strength. It also sees some other linksys network, not my, with an SSID of linksys. The notebook cannot get internet service through the wireless network. WEP is disabled on router and notebook. When I enabled it, the notebook couldn't see any wireless networks. Can anyone tell me how to fix this simple problem? I've tried so many different things that I can't keep everything straight.

Reply: (edit)Well, I have had the same problem with my Wireless network ( im using linksys router too!). That's true, you might be on the way of some other wireless networks as well, like your neighbours and ... If you know what your SSID is, then you can easily use the notebook wireless settings to choose that SSID as prefered network and connect to it. However, make sure your router settings are not blocking any wireless connections made to it. ( A friend of mine had this problem !!) Also, if you are using WEP and you do not configure it correctly, you will not be able to see any networks around you. Hope it helps, Do not hesitate to contact me should you need further assistance, Alireza alireza@arnit.net
