I am trying to network a Dell Desktop running Windows 98 and a Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop with Windows ME. The Linksys WUSB11 wireless adapter works fine on the desktop. I have tried the card (WPC11) and the USB adapter (WUSB11) on the laptop. They both have the same problem: When I logon, I get a message "There are no Wireless Network Adapters installed, so the Configuration Utility will quit". On the Device Manager it says that the adapter is working properly. I have followed all of the installation instructions, and repeated them several times. Since the problem occurred with both the card and the USB port, it probably is not a hardware problem. I have spent many hours on this, and Linksys support has been useless.
Any suggestions?

Dell has some tricky things going on with their PCMCIA slots. Have you downloaded the software for them from Dell? Give that a shot. It may solve your problems.

I am now trying to use the USB version WUSB11. I get the same error message with that.

right click on network neighborhood/properties, select the wireless card (wpc11) click properties, if you dont have an advance tab, the drivers are incorrect, i had the same issue they told me the the drivers for windows me/wpc11 are having some issues & they emailed me the correct ones the same day

Make sure you have no internet security or watchdogs running like norton internet security. it gave me heck until I uninstalled it and used the firewall with my linksys router.
