Comment: I have a Linksys Wireless G desktop PC adapter and a wireless WRT54G router. The desktop will lose connectivty sometimes every hour, etc. but will soon regain connectivity. Is there a fix for this or is it simply a by-product of going wireless and using ad on hardware. The desktop is one level up and about 2 rooms over from where the router is located.

Reply: (edit)How strong is your signal? If you have a cordless phone in your home (or another near by residence) that runs on the 2.4GHz frequency, that can cause conflicts. I use a 5.8GHz cordless phone so it does not mess with the router. Just so you know, I have a WRV54G which has VPN and all and it freaks out about once a month and I have to reboot it. I lose all connectivity until rebooted. 99.9% of the time it is fine though so no that is not normal to lose the connection like that. How good of a signal you get depends on how your home is built and the placement of your router. Move your router around to see if you can get a better signal. Metal objects will kill your signal. Hope this helps. -Johnathan

Reply: (edit)The signal strenth is usually low but I am almost invariably connected at 54.0Mbps which is good. I have moved the computer around to other rooms on this floor and when it is closer to the router I get a ver good or excellent signal strength.
