Hi and thanks for coming into this thread.
I'm using a Linksys WAG354G Version 1 router to connect 3 pc's together.
I have the latest firmware, 1.01.11.

Lately i've been experiencing high lag on my online game, Maple Story.

Port triggering/forwarding won't work as the game is run on the client and does not require hosting.

I remember having this same problem before. On both occasions it happened after i used the TCP Optimizer and selected the Optimal settings.

I've used the Linksys live chat support to talk to a helper. They've suggested:

~Reflashing the firmware and then holding the reset button on the router, followed by pulling out the power for 15 seconds.
Didn't work

~Port forwarding and triggering.
Doesn't work, reasons above

~Lowering the MTU values from 1492 to 1300.
This works for about a day or two before it drops and the lag returns.

So now i've come to this forum (Speedguide.net), hoping that there's anything you can do to help.
I have tried File>Restore Windows Default Settings and then resetting.
This doesn't work unfortunately.

So, do the other computers experience the same lag??

The issue you describe sounds localized to that box...did you do the TCP Optimizer on all of them??

Try using an online speed test:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

See if the issue affects all computers or just that one.

Also, maybe try bypassing the router?? See if it's really the culprit.

Yes, all the computers have this lag.
I'm thinking it IS a problem with my router, so now i'm trying to get through with my modem..
I'll keep you updated.

Okay. I can't connect to the internet with my modem OR my old router.
The old router displays no DSL light.
This might be a problem with my DSL cable that connects my pc to the phone line.

Narrowed it down more now.
I have tried connecting with my modem and my router, both of which failed.

Tried using a brand new ADSL cable which didn't work.

I have phoned my ISP regularly, on all occasions they have said that my line is fine and that nothing should be wrong..
