Hello,
I have a small insurance agency with 5 computers and a networked laser printer running through my LinkSys RV082 router. My high speed internet connection is VIA Embarq DSL at a rate of 5.0mbps. When all of the computers are running they will frequently "lock up" and need to be completely shut down and restarted to resume business. Are there special settings I should have configured on my RV082 to prevent this from happening? Prior to using the RV082 I had 2 inexpensive routers daisy chained together and never had a problem. The freezing occurs at random and becomes very annoying, especially when it is busy at the office. Any help as to what may be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have upgraded the firmware and am still having the same problem. The router is also in an unobstructed cool place where there is plenty of air flow.

There could be a number of problems...
How new is the RV082???...it is possible it is a "bad" router, although in my experience that is probably not the case...Do all the computers lock up, or only one or two???...do they all lock up at the same time???
And, exactly what do you mean my "lock up"...
Do the computers stop working, mouse not moving etc and you have to force a reboot to get it going...or by freezing do you mean you can connect to the interent, but after a while you cannot go to other websites???What are you running for Antivirus on the computers??...how about anti spyware programs???...do you see any issues with the computers when they are NOT on the internet???

Hello,
The router is only about 6 months old and was purchased
from NewEgg.com. When they lock up everything comes to a
hault and the cursors also stop moving. All of the computers
connected to the network lock up, not just one. Each has a
legal new version of Norton Anti Virus installed and as for
them not freezing when off the internet I would not know
because they are always connected through the DSL
connection. Thanks!
