Here's what I got

OS- winxp sp2 (sisters computer)
Router- Linksys rtp300 (not new, no discs)
Modem- Arris (Comcast)

The situation...
I was given the router and assured it worked. It is only being used to hook 2 PC's to Comcast. No telephony
I hooked everything up according to the manual and accessed the web utility. I entered the basic configuration, saved, and exited.
No internet connection.
I tried to get back in to the web utility but cannot access it any longer.
I have tried the following:ipconfig...flushdns, release and renew, reset the router to default settings (5 sec reset pin) also reset router admin (40 sec reset pin), network LAN- automatic config settings are UNCHECKED, TCP/IP is set to auto detect IP and DNS.
I've tried 192.168.15.1 and the assigned IP from ipconfig 98.216.145.85 nothing works.
I don't know what else to do.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would suspect you put the wan settings in the lan settings.

"the assigned IP from ipconfig 98.216.145.85 nothing works"

That is the ip the router assigned to your pc? You go to the gateway ip not that ip. What is your gateway ip?

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

its possible that you have connected your comcast modem to one of the ethernet port of the router. here is what you can try to test if it's a problem with the physical connection or of it's with the router.

First make sure that your comcast modem is plugged in the port that say internet/wan. And there is no usb cable connected from your modem to any of your computer.

Now check the lights, make sure that the power light is solid gree, and the lights for the ethernet port where your computers are plugged in should be lit. and the internet/wan as well.
