Linksys router's ip address won't pull up

June 16, 2011 at 14:26:55
Specs: Windows XP

I have a linksys router model#wrt54gt v1 and I can not pull up the router's ip address to change the security settings. I have checked and I have the correct IP address of 192.168.1.1. I can ping the router and everything hooked up to the router is now working correctly. I was having problem with the router losing the internet ip address and having to turn everything off and then back on to connect to the internet. I reset the router and it seems to have corrected that problem but I now can not pull up the router's ip address. I have tried in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I have tried typing the http:// and https:// before the ip address but it will not pull up. I have read countless posts trying to trouble shoot and figure out what's wrong with it and nothing will work. I have also done everything Linksys website said to do and still no luck. Please Help
Thanks
Mandy

What do you mean by "pull up"? Do you mean that you can't open the web interface? If so, what error message do you see? Have you tried more than one browser?

This is the message I get when I try to open the web interface - The connection has timed out The server at 192.168.1.1 is taking too long to respond. I have tried it in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. I have disabled all the security crap that I was told could block it also.

I know you said that you had the correct IP address but if you run ipconfig /all, is that what shows as the default gateway?

I've seen 192.168.1.254 as well.

If you run arp -a is the correct MAC address associated with the IP address?

Can you see shares on any of the other PCs on the network?
