Comment:

I have a Linksys WRT54G hooked up downstairs on my WinME computer and upstairs I have my Win98 computer networked with the WinME computer downstairs using a wireless Linksys Network USB adapter(I think its the WUSB11 model). Everthing appears to be working fine except I cant use the automatic windows update feature(start then select the windows update icon)to update my Win98 computer. What happens is I get a message "Page Cannot Be Displayed" This poor Win98 computer has no patches except the ones that I downloaded using "Big Fix" (from website that suggests updates). Dont know if I am actually patched correctly and would like ot use the Windows Update feature and let it scan my computer. I found a Windows link from a trouble shooting link at PC Pitstop and tried everything from adjusting Active X controls and looking for different DLL files to delete (but couldnt find those DLL's).
I think it might be my router blocking the downloads or connection to the Win update site. Is this possible? Does anyone know of a setting I can change in the Lynksis WRT54G software screen on my downstairs WinME computer to allow the Win98 computer upstairs to accesss Win's update site with no blockage or filtering problems?
Thnks for any help or ideas!

Micro$oft no longer supporting... That could be a reason why I cant connect to their website to do an update scan with my Win98 but I thought they were going to extend supporting Win98 and WinME with updates untill 2005. Is this wishfull thinking or has someone else heard this?
I can still connect with my WinME computer and do a scan at the ME site.

They have extended 98 and ME , just recently downloaded a Windows update for ME without a problem . They just recently have put out a "free" update CD for all their OS , you can sign up and they will send it to you . Go to
