Linksys router - wireless ok but no ethernet

January 4, 2011 at 03:20:08
Specs: Windows XP
The wife unconnected our Linksys router and checked a socket in another room for connectivity. She then reconnected the router to the original socket, powered up and only the ADSL lights illuminated, internet stays off.
We can connect and surf the web using wireless but when hard connect using a cable from the ethernet port in the router to her laptop - nothing.
No changes made to either laptop or router apart from those stated above.
Have tried ipconfig/all and get zero's in return.
Can anyone help please? Ear-ache increasing by the day!

From the sounds of it, when your wife tried to return everything to how it was originally, she must have not plugged everything back in correctly. You need to recheck all the connections she moved around.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
