Hi

I'm using a Linksys modem router to share files, and a broadband internet connection, wirelessly between three WIFI-enabled laptops.

This connection and method of internet reception has worked perfectly for about 2 months.

Now, without any warning, and as far as I know, without any changes on my part, the internet has starting playing up. The wireless connection continues apparently without problem, but the internet cannot be viewed (a "page not found" error appears on ALL pages), and nor can any emails be downloaded. This is the same on all computers on the network.

Meanwhile, the icon saying "connected to Linksys network, signal strength excellent" is still in the bottom right corner of the screen. The only way to restore the internet connection is to physically turn the router off, and back on again, and to wait 5 minutes.

I am having to do this 2-3 times a day at the moment.

Can anyone suggest what might be up with it?

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

You could have any of several problems.

1. Defective Modem or Router.

2. You did not mention what kind of broadband connection, DSL or Cable. A weak or intermitent cable signal caused by poor wiring or corroded splitters can cause this problem.

3. I have had several Linksys Routers that needed to be replace because of this problem. Lightening strikes or surges can slowly take them out.

4. Change your router setting to "Keep Alive" v.s. "ON Damand".

5. Try a hard reset of your router.

6. Defective Cable or DSL modem. Try connecting directly to a single computer without the router for a day or two and see if you still have the problem.
