I have a Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter and a Linksys Wireless Router. They are both 802.11g compatible, so that isn't the issue. I install the drivers for the adapter, plug it in, and then when I try and run the setup for the Linksys router it gives me this error: "Cannot find a compatible wireless adapter. Please install your wireless adapter first."

But I've already installed the adapter.

Thanks in advance.

Ok where how do you get the message "Cannot find a compatible wireless adapter"? And what set up a you trying to run? If you trying to setup your router.... just connect to your router by going to 192.168.1.1 in Internet Explorer and there you go. User name is usuall admin and password is admin. It sounds as if you are trying to install your linksys setup on your computer with the belkin adapter installed. Plug in your router and your belkin should "see" it.

I'm setting up a brand new wireless network. I have a Windows XP computer. I plugged in my USB adapter to the computer after installing the driver CD for the adapter. Then, I turn to the Linksys router (brand new) which also has an install CD. I put the CD in and the install autoruns. This is when it gives me the error message stated earlier.

So, the router has never been used. Am I missing something? I apologize - I'm new to wireless.

Actually you don't need to setup the router.
It should get a default connection. It would be faster if you had a wired connection to the router. What you have to do is setup your wireless adapter to see the wireless router. It's time to read the manual.
