Linksys reports that you should be able to receive an IP from a DHCP server, other than the router. There's a broadcast sent out on the network, from the client, asking for an IP from any DHCP server out there...a DHCP request. The issue here seems to be that the Linksys router (WRT54G) is not passing that DHCP request over to the DHCP server. Usually there's a BOOTP relay agent (in most decent routers) that allows this to happen. I cannot get my DHCP client (XP Pro) to talk with the DHCP server (WIN2K3). I've already used the router's DHCP successfully...now I'm trying to learn more about Window's DHCP. Anyone have this issue? Anyone fix it?

Matt

Windows XP will only act as a DHCP server when Internet Connection Sharing is installed. As you are using a router, ICS is pointless.

Other than that you need an Network Operating System like Windows 2000 Server or Windows XP 2003.
