Hi:
I recently set up a small network of 8 computers in a workgroup. All teh computers run win xp/2000. They are all connected through a Linksys Etherfast 8 port DSL/Cable router. The Internet connection is Verizon. The problem is every 15 - 20 minutes...the router keeps crashing. It just stops working...the internet goes down and the computers cannot get to each other. Sometimes it comes back up immediately and sometimes, I have to power it off and power it back on again. I never had this problem before. Can it be because all 8 ports are taken up by the computers and the router is unable to handle the load? What could be the reason. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Never used a Linksys router or switch. But dont they offer firmware upgrades for their products? Maybe you should try that.

Hey Ram, This looks like a hardware problem, anyways before changing the hardware you might wana try updating the firmware, here is the link for BEFSR81 - EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 8-Port Switch firmware: http://www.linksys.com/download/firmware.asp?fwid=5 ->download this file and to upgrade ->click on help tab in the web-based utility of the router-> Click Upgrade Firmware -> browse and find the downloaded file.
