I'm running a small home network on my linksys router. I've got a cable internet connection it's 3 meg down/512 kb up. My connection hasn't been showing that lately it's cable, shared medium, and the cable company has been overloaded in my area.
I decided to enable QOS to help managed bandwidth across the 3 computer network. I was hoping that beefing down how much data can go across the network would help fix the speed issue.
When everyones online in my neighborhood, i'm online on my computer, and one other person is online in our house the second computer trying to use the net gets connection timeouts.
On top of that QOS makes svchost on this computer go crazy. 25 packets a second and it actually lags my computer a little this computer is xp with pleanty of hardware.
Any suggestions as for fixing QOS from requiring more bandwidth and the second computer from getting timeouts?
When the second computer was getting timeouts I was playing quake2, with trillian open thats it. All she was trying to do was serf the net?!?
