Ok Ill try to be brief: I have 2 pc`s at my home using a dsl connection. They are both connected to my 5 port router which is connected to my modem. They are not networked together. 1 of the pc`s connects just fine. The other pc does not. It now says" Limited or no connectivity"down by my firewall icon.
This happened a few weeks ago for no apparent reason at all. They both have worked just fine until then. I have tried everything I could think of, i.e 1. right click, repair option. 2.ipconfig/release, ipconfig/renew 3.System restore 4.Installed a second nic card(I have an onboard nic) 5. Called tech support 6.Virus scan 7. spyware scan 8. Even changed my ip address.(I used neotrace to find a usable ip) 9. Booted up using win xp cd to try a repair. System required an admin password. I had never previously set an admin password. *This makes me think a virus possibly? 10. Booted up in safe mode and logged in as admin to delete password. none had been previously set. 11.Took my pc to another location that had a dsl connection, and guess what? It worked there! WTF?! 12. Brought it back home to try again, it still wont connect.
Any tips or advice would REALLY come in handy. Thanks :)
Hey there, this might help, i had a problem once with a limited or no connectivity issue, and was told to this and it seemed to have worked. so here it goes:
1. go to control panel 2. open up my network connections 3.once opened highlight on the relevant connection and right click on it, and go to properties 4.click on the "GENERAL" tab 5.Look towards the bottom of the box, and UNTICK :"notify me when this connection has limited or no connection"
its vital u untick that box if you want ur connections to work and stay on
