Hi.
I have a DI-524(DLink) Wireless router and its connected to an Ethernet modem.
Recently,I have been having problems about limited connectivity and its happening every few minutes. To make it work temporarily I unplug and plug in again the power wire of the router and get the connection running again. But is there a permanent solution which one can suggest?
Thanks.

How far is the PC from the router?
I heard a Staples employee ask that question to a customer when his laptop couldn't connect. The customer replied 11 miles.

Hi Roddickfan,
How long you are using the D-Link Router?
Are u Facing the problem in only one computer
or all the computer in the network?I would recommend you to check the firmware
in the Router and Upgrade the firmware to the
Latest one.If you face the same problem again and again
please reset the router for 60 seconds and
then do a power cycle for 30 seconds. If you face the Problem n a single computer i
would recommend you to update the drivers for
the network interface card (NIC).If you provide me the entire network setup,
it would help me to provide you a better
solution.Thanks and Regards,
L8ian

Thanks Guapo and L8ian for your replies.
@Guapo,my laptop wouldn't be more than 15feet away from the router and probably 15feet is an exaggeration too.@L8ian,its been I think almost 10months for this router in use. There is only one user of the router in the network and that is me.Other than that there is no one who uses it and it is locked too to prevent others from misusing it.
Thanks.

If I remember correctly, there are different channels that can be used. Maybe you can change the channel.
Since they are only 15 feet apart, may I ask why you don't want to use a cat5 cable?

Try to update your router with latest firmware and wireless adapter with latest driver by getting them from manufacturer website. Also take a look on why my wireless network is slow and cannot connect to wireless network articles to help you more..

The idea of the cat5 (ethernet) is to eliminate wireless. There is no reason to use wireless for 15 feet.
Open the wireless card config to see if you can change the channel.

Hi Roddickfan,
If u login to the Router web interface using
the Gate Way (192.168.1.1).Under the wireless Tab you can see a options
to change the channel. Make Sure the Channel
is set to 11.Check for the Latest firmware for the Router
and Upgrade the firmware to the Latest one.If u take the laptop to the Hot spot are you
facing any problem? If you are facing the same problem in the hot
spot then there is a problem with the
wireless adapter in the Computer. If you are able to go online in the hot spot
with out any problem then the problem is with
the Router. After Upgrading the router firmware, if you
face the same problem again, i would suggest
you to change the advanced wireless settings
in the Router.Still if the problem occurs i would suggest
you to reset the router and reconfigure the
router.Thanks and Regards,
L8ian

Thanks I switched channels and I hope it will keep working properly. So far no problems.*fingers crossed*
Edit : I had to revert to channel 6,which was set earlier because it got limited connection problem thrice in a matter of two minutes.I would now try upgrading to a newer firmware version.I already was running on v2.03(Dec 9,2005).I would try to switch to v2.04.
Thanks everyone for helping.Hope upgrade fixes the issue.
