Hello all.
I was wondering is there is a way to run the internet through a program to limit internet usage.
We have a router, 3 computers running xp home and 1 running xp Pro. Also an access point which is connected to the router.

You have a few options available to you;
Setup a dedicated filtering box;
Linux (I recommend, smoothwall with dans guardian, easiset) (squid can do good things here too)
XP with third party shaping softwareTry to think what you want to achieve, is it control over nodes bandwitdh allocation, user bandwidth allocation or do you want to set limits to people?
Use options provided by your router/modem amnufacturer (many of these devices support at least ip based throttling)
My advise to you would be to pass all your clients through your machine, install a third party product and test how it goes first before deciding on a final solution

It's just for a house. I want to be able to limit the amount if gb each computer can use a month. We only have a 10gb plan and it gets used by one person more heavily than everyone else. So say give each computer 2.5gb each a month. How easily could this be set up?
