Hey guys,
I have a network at school that I need to setup using intel proset/wireless because I am able to input a username and set it to LEAP authentication but intel proset is a very laggy tool and I dont like it taking up the extra memory.
Is there any way to set up this profile using the stock windows wireless configuration?
Appreciate any help, i havent found a solution to this yet!
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2800 OC to 2200Mhz
1gb DDR400 Ram.
Geforce 6800 LE overclocked and unlocked.
450W Power Supply.

not really enough details
is there a router involved?
in the admin tools, services, is the windows zero config started and running?
in the properties of the wireless connection, is the box checked marked to use windows to config this wireless?
in the properties of the detected wireless available, is the ssid setup ?
in the advanced tab in the same properties, is the setting to access any wireless checked instead of ad hoc??
or are you trying to set up ad hoc [peer to peer} network?
need more info

Sorry it seems ive come across incorrectly.
According to help desk at my school we have to use a certain application such as the wireless tool for the Intel PRO/set wireless and if we use windows original wireless we cannot connect to this 'special' network.
Dont get me wrong, the original windows wireless is fine, it connects to networks but because this is a university wireless network, theyve taken added measures for security.
The way I configure to connect to the school's wireless is through Intel PRO/set wireless tool which allows me to set up a profile which in this case they set me up with a username and password to be able to connect to the school's network which I dont think you can do with windows original wireless tool.
My question is, IS THERE a way to do this somehow with Window's original Wireless connections tool rather than needing some special program to set up this 'special' profile?

That's the same that we use where I work, we haven't found anything that will support LEAP login other than Intel/ProSet, I hear what you're saying though. I did find that you can install Intel/Proset and do a single sign on feature that it signs in using your domain account, this is assuming that they are using the domain account to authenticate to the wireless though.
The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.
