Reply: (edit) The only way it would be faster is you have multiple machines on the same subnet and they are talking to each other then the conversations are switched in hardware which is much faster than routing , if the packets have to be routed off net then it is no different . It also depends if you are talking about $30 linksys or a $1500 Cisco L3 switch , obviously the Cisco will be much faster .
