Have you installed all the manufacturers drivers for the laptop. That's absolutely necessary to get all the hardware components working correctly.
You may have to download all the latest drivers for Windows Vista from the manufacturers home page.

So it's obviously not recognizes by your Windows Vista or you're using the wrong driver for it.
Without the correct driver for Windows Vista, you won't get your wireless network card to work.

You still have to find a windows vista compatible driver for your card.
Windows 7 compatible drivers may possibly run also on Vista.

Response 6, 7 and 11.
You wrote, that your wireless card is not listed in the device manager.
Now in Response 11 you state that your wireless network card is shown.

So what is correct at this stage?

And what's wrong with this driver, provided by Acer.
Choose the Operating System and download the wireless driver.
